André
Maïsseu graduated in 1966 from ENSICAEN-ISMRA (Institute of Matter and Radiation
Sciences) in Caen, France, then in 1967 from INSTN (French National Institute of
Nuclear Sciences and Technology), Saclay, France. He was awarded a Docteur
d'Etat ès Sciences Physiques in 1971 (Plutonium Metallurgy Laboratory, CEN of
Fontenay aux Roses, CEA, France). André Maïsseu also graduated in management and
economics in 1969 from the Business School of the University of Caen. He became
a Docteur ès Sciences Economiques of the University of Caen in 1976. He began
his professional career with Framatome / Creusot Loire in 1971, at Imphy as
Manager of the product line for magnetic steels. In 1974 he joined Renault,
where he stayed for eight years, as Manager of the Forecasting and New
Activities Department. He then joined the Battelle Institute in the USA, where
he spent two years as Manager of the Electronics and Manufacturing Industries
Department. In 1986 he joined Cogema/AREVA as special assistant to the Fuels and
Reprocessing Branch, first at La Hague reprocessing plant. Since 1992 he has
been at the company's headquarters. He retired in 2002. He is agreed expert to
the International Atomic Energy Agency - IAEA.
André Maïsseu was nominated as « Professeur des Universités » in 1988. He taught
fuzzy logics and its involvement in economics and management of technology,
innovation and technical progress at the University of Paris 1 'Pantheon - La
Sorbonne', and at the University of Versailles-St Quentin en Yvelines. He is
visiting professor of the Universities of Wisconsin (1992), Case Western
Reserve, Cleveland, Ohio (1993), and Southwestern Louisiana (1994). He is the
founding President of the World Council of Nuclear Workers, an association of
trade unions and professional associations involved in nuclear technologies. It
now covers some 2.8 million employees from 36 countries. He has published
several books: 'L'Antideclin, ou les mutations technologiques maitrisées' EME,
1988;'Management des ressources technologiques' Sirey, 1991, "Encyclopédie de
gestion et de Management" in Dalloz, 1999, "The effects of Low and Very Low
Doses of Ionizing Radiation on Human Health" Elsevier, 2000. He had the honor to
be invited author of "Fuzzy Logic, a Spectrum of Theoretical and Practical
Issues", published by Da Ruan, Springer, 2007. He published about 250 scientific
papers.
He created the most important collection of scientific journals dedicated to
nuclear energy at Inderscience : Atoms for Peace AfP; International Journal of
Low Radiation -IJLR; International Journal of Nuclear Desalination - IJND;
International Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology -IJNEST ; International
Journal of Nuclear Governance Economy and Ecology - IJNG2E ; International
Journal of Nuclear Hydrogen Production and Applications - IJNHPA ; International
Journal of Nuclear Knowledge Management - IJNKM; International Journal of
Nuclear Law - IJNucL. He is still editor in chief of AfP and IJNG2E.
Since 207, he is president of the "Atoms for Peace Prize" Committee and of the
"Marie Curie Prize" Committee.
André Maïsseu is Swiss citizen, married, two children. /
